It is hoped that the rain will slow down (or quit) and the painting can be done by mid-November.
  • One Summit:Joint gathering of Rotarians throughout the District with an opportunity to exchange ideas and help with ideas to grow the Club, continue service and public interaction. This is open to all members not just officers or Board members. Give serious consideration to attending. INTERESTED, join fellow Rotarians on October 28 at Cal U from 9:00 to 12:30 (breakfast included). Carpooling available and if you’d like to sing we could arrange that, just let Bill Price know.

Today we learned more about JOE MANNING.
Joe defined his adult life as a 3 point triangle. Early career efforts in radio followed by being a fire fighter then a career in politics and community service.
Early days in radio started as a little kid with a transistor radio that eventually evolved into working at WJPA selling radio time and hoping to someday get on the air. Working with John Quale on WJPA shifts from 10:00pm to 5:00am and eventually got his FCC license.
Later Joe moved on to Morgantown, spent time in Virginia. Got to anchor news in Morgantown and met a fine lady named Lynn.
Next due to family involvement as firefighters Joe took the Civil Service exam and eventually became a firefighter and worked at that career path for 20 years which included some time as a hurricane relief worker in Mississippi for 30 days and feels that experience really changed his life and how he viewed what he was doing. Joe was also IN as a firefighter for the large Washington Tire fire.
Finally the political life began when running for City Council having a failed run for County Commissioner Joe found his “nitch” as a councilman serving his community. We all remember Joe’s recent work during the recent building collapse in Downtown Washington.
(Questions ... Sorry Jim he cannot fix your street, you don’t live in Washington and he has no authority in East Washington.)
This was a great Get to Know Event and we certainly learned more about JOE…all good by the way! Thank you.
