Get to Know a Rotarian – Phil Morrow

Phil has been a Rotarian for over 40 years.
Phil talked about how his ancestors came from Scotland and Ireland. First to Green Castle and then to Penn Hills on grant from Tom Penn, the brother of William Penn. He was amazed that the property was an exact rectangle.
Phil was born in MaGee “womans” Hospital on 4/20/1929, and the family moved to Peters Township in in 1933 when it was still very rural.
Phil worked in many banks in Soutwest PA.
He Married Leatha in 12-31-1949. Has been married for 69 years!
He was drafted into the Koren War by way of Fort Picket VA, and then NYC, Puerto Rico, Panama, Hawaii, Yokohama and then Korea (Inchou?)
His Rotary career was originally restricted because of the "classification" rules and there were very many bankers in Rotary.
So then he joined Kiwanis for a while.
Finally, he was  able to join Rotary in 1978
Over the years, he has served on various non-profit boards such as:
  •             United Way of Mon Valley
  •             Mon Valley Business Association
  •             Latrobe Airport Authoirty (hail to Arnie)
  •             SW Pa Human Services
One of his best honirs was receiving Paul Harris Fellow recpgnotion.  Phil said that, lookining back,  “Service above self” was always a part of his life.

50/50

343 – Phil – Winner
