FOUNDATION MOMENT:

We were fortunate to have DG Steve here to award a Paul Harris Award to John Hopper. John was a member, left and we are happy he is back and continuing to serve his Club, Community and Foundation Giving. Congratulations John…so glad you have rejoined us!!

District Governor’s Visit

Ass’t Governor Brad Montgomery introduced DG Steve stressing Steve’s activities in the Rotary Avenues of Service. As only Brad can do and a fine job again…Brad is an outstanding Rotarian…we are so fortunate to have him. Be sure to thank Brad any chance you have!
DG Steve and Colleen combined to present the message today by stressing
1) RESPECT for the past;
2) HONOR the present;
3) RESOLVE to embrace the future.
Also they stressed that a Rotary Club must remain relevant to their Community. As always stressing the need for membership and how we must all “tell our story about Rotary” both why we joined and what it means to us personally.
Supporting the Foundation Giving is important to all because those funds can return to our Club in the form of grants to assist in accomplishing Club goals.
On the International side of Rotary DG Steve stressed the Water Filters for Thailand but also asked that we support providing school supplies for the local area…Venezuela was supposed to be the recipient of supplies however due to the present unrest in Venezuela we are shifting our support to schools in our service area.
When we contribute to the $999 Club it will place water filters in schools to provide clean water. This effort will be put to Thailand. As individuals contributing, $110 can put a new water filter into a home.
Colleen listed the various times for District Meetings and events in the coming year. It was a great meeting, very well attended and gave all of us much to think about.
PLEASE give your $10 contribution to Dave Moore for school supplies and consider your purchase of a water filter.

Let’s all remember those in the Houston Area suffering the effects of flooding.
We hope to hear from fellow Rotarians in the Houston area to find out what can be done to assist their efforts.

Thanks! To Bill and Susan Price for the meeting notes!
