  • Ken Baker promoting the Jazz Brunch and Jazz Society; visit washingtonjazzsociety.com to learn about the great upcoming performances and outstanding, known musicians who will be in Washington.
  • Tripp Kline happy for the great Festival and Bradford House Dinner and HAPPY he won’t have to “dig out Hamiltons” at the meetings for the months to come.
  • Ulie Lange enjoyed the Bradford dinner and talked to “Hamilton”. Ulie compared our Festival and Dinner to his Club’s “Cherry Days” in Colorado selling buttons to support the event….a great idea worth visiting!
  • Susan Price happy to tell Joe P she has sold tickets given to her…about 10.
  • John Tecklenburg worked at the Bradford House on Saturday and in walked Alexander Hamilton – enjoyed his visit to the House but didn’t understand why his picture was upside down.
  • Dorothy Tecklenburg worked the “House” during the rain on Saturday and visitors came – encourage your visitors to come even in the rain!
  • Bill Mesler happy to have memories revived watching the launch of the “greatest battleship” Gerald Ford Carrier. Bill was fortunate to have served in the Navy and we thank him for his service!!
  • Jim Uram happy to have been in Atlantic City and went to the WHO Concert….Andy took the family! What fun!
  • Phil Rush visited the Lepperts on his way to the meeting – Erv is bottling his wine—a mess—need help! Lots of wine but not ready to drink. There were volunteers in the audience willing to suffer and help to bottle but would rather help to drink!! Movers won’t move the wine!!
  • Susan Priest happy and happy to be driving again, back at the Wellness Center and into the Pool…returning to a better than New Sue!!
  • Rachel Lozosky great desserts at the Whiskey Dinner – GREAT variety and quite creative!
  • PDG Bob Hillberry happy to tell story on mentoring grandson now known as Major Justin Hillberry…GREAT and Thank You Justin for your Service!
  • Rich Podgurski happy to be back and out of Syracuse (not great for food…looked on Google for a 5-Star restaurant and the recommendation the Texas Road House) and they ended up at a “biker bar” but it was OK and the food was also OK!!

PROGRAM:

Club Assembly was scheduled for today and the Club was brought up to date with upcoming events from the Avenues of Service.
  • Foundation Chair Dave Hart presented Bill Mesler with a Paul Harris Fellow. Congratulations Bill.
  • Community Service Director Bob Wicker reported the Pony Baseball schedule is 99+% completed (August 11-16) and the Roadside Cleanup will be scheduled in October. The Dictionary Project will be under the direction of Ellen Hough this year (we think) and it will be in March.
  • Past President Joe Piszczor explained and answered concerns/questions dealing with the Cash Bash on Sept.9 Joe hopes to sell 6-7hundred tickets. A publicity program is being worked on.
  • Vocational Service Brandi Butler reported that nomination sheets will be emailed through Club Runner and all are encouraged to participate in this October program.

  • Treasurer Dave Moore spoke on the Club finances with the total assets of $175,490 and the Pavilion Project in addition to Casino monies and various grants as of this time $22,500. There have been 78 individual donations to the project. This is a great start and hopefully more will be coming through various media promotions. Fourteen Club members have made individual contributions…Thank you for that!
  • Community Park Pavilion project directed by President Rich who informed the membership the awards for roof construction have been opened and the acceptable bid approved however the name of the company cannot be announced at this time … paperwork to be signed. Roof replacement and supports will start in September. We will again seek Casino Grant funds during the next round.
  • Olivia Scott Foundation fundraiser on the Hamilton tickets and trip to NYC will bring the Club a donation of $4,000. Thanks to all who bought and sold tickets…we did the “heavy lifting”here.
