  • Susan Priest happy for “free” drugs for 3 months and very HAPPY to share the table today with NatRoe.
  • Susan Price (and Bill) have been “gifted” a trip to California by their nephew David…a tremendous surprise.
  • John Tecklenberg says “back handed” 1) Dorothy fell from her horse again 2) this broken hip (not the one she broke before) is not as serious as the first time 3) rehab NOT as extensive as before. We all feel badly for both of you and then there is the horse???
  • Tom Drewitz has a HAPPY QUESTION?? Does anyone know a dog sitter/house sitter for the end of August? If so see Tom….he had a name and phone number before the happy dollars were over! Let’s hope it works.
  • Stephanie Urchick happy to have the Prices as friends of her Club…Susan “hosted the last meeting” and also sold her a Cash Bash Ticket!
  • Phil Rush shared that he and Connie (a very special lady) celebrated their 53 Honeymoon last week!!
  • Dave Moore happy to let us know their grandson turned 11 yrs old today and the Moores have celebrated their 63rd Anniversary! Congratulations to Dave and Shirley but also to their Grandson….
  • Tripp Kline happy with $10, just can’t shake that Hamilton, hosting Max Miller of W&J Entrepreneur Program; also if you are looking for prime commercial on Main Street OR if you are in search of a lovely 2 bedroom apartment on said Main Street….See Tripp sooner than later!! Not sure if this was a paid commercial or PSO?
  • John Smith entertained us with his stories of Canadian Football League and “discovered” Eric Harris who is now with the New Orleans Saints….Now did John discover OR did his assistant Stephanie discover???
  • Mary Jo Podgurski is happy to thank all for supporting the Real Talk Performers last week and through the Citizens Library they are going to be able to tape the program for future use. (Great performance kids and great leadership MaryJo)
  • Bill Mesler son who lives in CA finally secured Steeler Season Tickets (4 of them) and Bill and Sandy and their grandsons are anxiously awaiting the opening of the Season…they are actually going to attend!! We will all look for Bill and Sandy…they’ll be wearing black and gold!!
  • Jim Uram happy for a trip to Colorado where Andy got tired from walking (understandably), Thomas was honored by being named to the Board that handles the design and minting of commemorative coins, Jim, well we aren’t sure but he’s happy he went!

Announcements:

  • PONY Baseball volunteer (there’s that word again) schedule complete…Bill Mesler stood up and took the final spot. Thanks Bill!
  • PONY Baseball picnic is Friday at the Kiwanis Pavilion. Please report at 10:30 as teams will begin reporting between 11:00 and 1:30. This is due to a homerun hitting contest and early game scheduling.
  • President Rich announced the bids on the Pavilion roof were opened and a bid of $120,000 was the low responsible bid. This opens the door to now bid the “under” structure repair as the roofing bid was less than anticipated. GREAT START….let us keep it rolling.
  • Next Meeting in the Ballroom GTKAR Program continues.

Program: Salvation Army

Susan Priest introduced today’s program presented by the new leaders of the Salvation Army in Washington. The new leaders are Amber and Jason Imhoff who have been in Washington about a month.
The Imhoffs have the responsibility of making the community aware of the various programs here to serve those in need. One key factor most of us learned is that no restrictions are placed on those who may benefit from their programs. Also the Washington Salvation Army Unit receives no state or federal subsidy but depends upon grants and local effort. This is different according to location and how the Unit is established or set up.
Headquartered at 60 E. Maiden, everyone is welcome to visit, volunteer and support the programs. The local group is preparing to take 40 kids to Famous Footwear to purchase new shoes for the start of school; backpack programs to fill a need for basic school supplies and then Project Bundle Up for seniors and for children to purchase coats, boots, hats, to prepare for the winter. Bell Ringing is important and Jason takes care of the “kettles” so when you hear the call for the Rotary Club to volunteer that is who is “calling” or having someone call for him!
If you know of any need within the community do not hesitate to contact the Salvation Army and IF they can they WILL help, they just need to know!
P.S. They brought their daughter with them and she was really well behaved….nice to bring the average age of attendance down a year or two!
